July Sees First of Two Energy Rate Hikes

Within days of gaining state regulator approval to hike rates over two years, Dominion Virginia Power enacted the first increase. As of July 1, Dominion raised rates $4.86 for every 1,000 kilowatt hours of electricity per month.

 

What Will Become of Wind Energy in Virginia?

Most people are quick to agree that developing offshore wind energy to help power Virginia is a great idea. As a recent article noted in the Virginian-Pilot, it's clean, abundant, and the wind at least, is free. The problem, however, “is hardly anyone can agree on how to build, finance and properly regulate” wind farms off the coast of the Old Dominion.
