leed-THMLEED is a national third-party certification system that recognizes leadership in green building. It was developed by a consensus process of volunteer members of the U.S. Green Building Council, who contributed their expertise to its technical development. LEED was first introduced in March 2000 for new commercial construction, and has since grown to include other certifications including LEED-H.

LEED-H, also known as LEED for Homes was launched in February 2008 and measures green homebuilding performance based on eight categories: site selection, water efficiency, materials and resources, energy and atmosphere, indoor environmental quality, location and linkages, awareness and education and innovation.

Within each of these areas, projects earn points toward certification. LEED has four levels of certification: Certified, Silver, Gold and Platinum, with Platinum representing the highest level of achievement.

All projects require a minimum of two inspections. These inspections are usually defined as Pre-Drywall and Final inspections.

  • EQ 2.2 Enhanced Combustion Venting Measures
  • EQ 4.3 Outdoor Air Ventilation Third-Party Performance Testing
  • EQ 5.3 Local Exhaust Third-Party Performance Testing
  • EQ 6.3 Multiple Zones Third-Party Performance Testing
  • EQ 6.2 Return Air Flow / Room by Room controls: Pressure differential between rooms & adjacent spaces w/return no greater than 2.5 Pa.
  • Retest: Duct Leakage per Unit
  • Retest Blower Door per unit
  • Re-inspect thermal bypass per unit
